Creating an art vision for Exxaro that reflects the goals of the company and leverages its collection to engage employees

Exxaro Art hero.jpg

When Exxaro moved their headquarters from Pretoria to Centurion, Betapoint was appointed to develop their art holdings into a contemporary collection of South African art. The company’s collection is already renowned in the corporate sector, our role was to curate the collection to reflect the modern aesthetic of their new, green-rated, dynamically designed building, while showcasing the company's past and future.

The project began with the formulation of company art policy based on industry standards
and best-practices. This document provides the backbone for the art acquisition process
and helps safeguard the value of the art collection as a cultural and financial asset. Guided by Betapoint’s art advisor, existing and new artworks were chosen to bridge a historical gap in the stalled art collection inherited by Exxaro, while highlighting themes of diversity, sustainability, and environmental protection - key to the company’s vision. Betapoint managed the entire process from selection, installation as well as training staff in the ongoing care and maintenance. The artworks reflect an organisational shift, engaging employees and visitors to view artwork as reflective of Exxaro in the 21st century – a company that is diverse, sustainable, and powering possibility. This art project not only beautified the space, it engaged the artistic community and contributed to a creative, stimulating, inspiring and progressive work environment.
